Supporter 2 Reporter SEND Offer
We are delighted to launch our new Supporter 2 Reporter SEND programme
Learners take part in a project based learning model to learn journalistic skills. S2R has a clear focus on communication, media and literacy, It also has the added benefit of raising self-esteem, motivation and confidence for targeted learners, as well as widening educational opportunities.
Content & overview
The practical sessions (with a football theme) will have a mixture of hands on activities and those using our extensive IT/media resources. We will use our iPads and Studio Recording equipment and a hands-on approach to boost literacy and oracy skills along with self confidence and self esteem.
We are looking to work with Yrs 7-9 SEND learners from North Lincolnshire schools to boost literacy and digital skills, where a skills gap has been identified.
We can cater for up to 8 pupils in each programme.
Attendance and Learning Assessment
You will need at attend all five of the available sessions. We ask that you are on time and stay for the whole session.
How will this course benefit me?
You will be able to build confidence in working with basic maths principles such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You will also have the opportunity to boost your understanding of subjects such as area, perimeter, angles and money.
Course Delivery
This is a face-to-face classroom based course with live lessons and set teaching times.
You should be willing to join in with class discussions and activities.
The course will be made up of 5 one and a half hour sessions and will take place at Study United FC based at The Attis Arena (Glanford Park) in Scunthorpe.
Schools will be responsible for the transport of students and staff to and from the study centre each week. We also ask that pupils are accompanied by school staff members at a ratio determined by the school and sufficient to cover their personal needs.

Places on this programme are limited. Further programmes will be scheduled throughout the year and will operate waiting lists. We recommend you register your place early, as we anticipate a high level of interest.
Taking key aspects of our successfully 10 week Supporter 2 Reporter programme, our SEND offer will last 5 weeks and look like this:-
Week 1
Welcome and introduction to S2R. Ground tour. Create narrated iMovie with photos and video of Glanford Park.
Week 2
Complete ground tour and focus on “The News”, What is it? How do you Gather it? Interviewing Top Tips
Week 3
Prepare questions and interview a professional reporter. Preparation for player interviews.
Week 4
Interview a professional footballer. Script Writing for our final Green Screen recording session.
Week 5
Finish planning studio film and script writing.
Film your show in our studio in front our our green screen. Help control the auto-cue and recording equipment.
Celebration event.
Presentation of Study United FC Award certificates and viewing of your films at your school.
